so yes. my fabulous trip to the island of borneo

gather everybody! geog lesson time!

1 island. 3 countries.
indonesia, malaysia and brunei's those two spots along the coastline..

and in case you were wondering, i basically went from..
singapore - brunei - kota kinabalu - [transit] bintulu - kuching -
kota kinabalu - brunei - singapore

hence the figures from my prev entry. duh

it was just mimi, jujie and i.. was an alright trip.. didn't manage to get a tan tho'.. rawr.. i totally restrained myself, supressing my narcissistic tendencies.. so yea. you wouldn't be seeing much photos of me.. hehs. and the photos that did have me in them. just turned out wrong. sighs

so here's a highly summarized account of my trip

kota kinabalu
capital of the state of sabah, east malaysia

sunrise from promenade hotel at kk

the sun's weird in borneo. it's like, 1 hour ahead of our sun.. so their 6am looks like our 7am. and that pretty much whacked up my body clock. cuz apparantly, my body responds to the sun. so at 8pm, i start to feel tired. erm okaay. that doesn't make sense.

uhhh. if you squint a lil'.. you might just see mt kinabalu..

fine. so you can't see mt kinabalu. just try to imagine it aights?
i can't help it that it was a particularly cloudy day can i?

here's presenting my mimi! she's so round and cute

we got on this bridge thingy to take photos. gorge view really..
but haha.. mimi was totally freaked out man. i swear.

machiam some chinese painting la

taken from the starting point on mt kinabalu. gorge ainnit?
freaking cold up there. and i so wisely chose to wear my shorts and tank top that day. duh. thank goodness for sweaters.

kuching
capital of the state of sarawak, east malaysia

hometown of kenny sia! and no, i didn't mange to bump into him. damn! but i did manage to see the infamous [is it?] ultra-super-duper long roundabout names. phwooarr! go ahead! click it! fucking funny la

mt somthingsomthing santubong

taken at the award winning sarawak cultural village. interesting enough place, just that it was infested with school kids.. and mosquitos.. eeks!

cultural dance performance [orang ulu - kanjet ngeleput]

so yes, steph asks if there were any cute guys? that would be him.
not that you can really see clearly.. but he's that kinda plump plump, amazing tush + thighs, bad ass'd tattoos kinda guy i like. hahaha

the other hottie i spotted was also from the dance troupe [?]
and i thought he looked like sijin. ahahahaha

check out the funky ol' tix yo

harry potter on the opening day at only RM9! thank goodness..
cuz i swear the show was hopelessly disappointing.

brunei

uh, we basically went to the bigger of the two spots shown on the map.

mimi at pantai tutong

hell. there are so many beaches [pantais?] in brunei.. but this is the only one we actually got down to stroll along.. app the rest of them are infested with sandflies. and no way am i gonna let 'em bite me

*weeee!*

they had those sand buggies-whatchamightcallem thingys there..
and weiqi [jie's assistant], who joined us that day, wanted to have a go on them. so yea. off we went! B10 for 20 mins. sheesh

.. and shortly after this photo was taken, i crashed. duh. think i must've freaked him out. well, so much for leaving a good impression.

taken along the highway to seria and kuala belait

like you can actually see where you're going. FREAKY LA! mind you.
its a fucking highway. i mean, maybe i'm too used to things being all lit up an stuff.. but how can anyone drive along those roads!?

sunset at brunei

okay, i'l admit it.. they've got brilliant skies. its absolutely gorge!!

well, the trip to brunei wasn't mind blowing.. but at least i got to see the place my sis has been spending in, in the past 2 years. and trust me, its verrrrry different from life as we know it, in singapore.

thank goodness i was born here. and i can't imagine why jie would even think about asking me if i'd move to brunei. sheesh

to wrap things up. here's a peculiar lil' road sign we kept coming across in malaysia. i have never in my life, seen sucha weird sight. according to jie's friend, it means "danger" but it was everywhere! esp in kuching.. can't be the roads in kuching are that dangerous right?

seriously, what does this look like?!

and so jie and i concluded that it means "monk ahead"
WAHAHAHHAHAHA

of course, the truth is less interesting. its just means boring ol' "obstruction ahead".. so much for monks huh? *hohum*
